Ashtanga Yoga Phoenix is an Ashtanga Yoga studio. We offer morning Mysore style and Led classes six days per week, along with Yin, Restorative, Nidra and Gentle Yogam Tai Chi Bagua, Pilates, YTT 200/300 and several family classes, community events and retreats. Our Ashtanga instructors have varied backgrounds in dance, neurokinetic therapy, personal training and more.
We are located in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, making it easily accessible for practitioners valley-wide, and Ashtanga Yoga is located in our hearts, making it just as easily accessible to our members!
Ashtanga Yoga is a practice following the teachings as laid out by author Patanjali, of the Yoga Sutras. He explains the eight-fold path to reach the goal of Yoga; Samadhi - to find peace in the heart and mind among the daily grind. At AYP, we practice the vinyasa system that has been discovered, cultivated and continued by T. Krishnamacharya, K. Pattabhi Jois, and currently the director of KPJAYI - R. Sharath Jois.
Although we follow traditional sanskrit counts, poses and adjustments, we are family friendly and you will often see children, seniors and everyone in between on a mat near you. Our atmosphere is warm and inviting. You will quickly fit into our community and feel you have been practicing with us for years.
We also specialize in looking at each individual student’s needs, whether it be more focus on ancient breathing techniques, muscle testing and anatomy, modified practice or advanced postures.
Sharath Jois has said, “You should try and practice everyday.” This is where you will discover the most about yourself and receive the most benefit from your practice.
At AYP we are happy to welcome the young, the old, the injured, the strong, the advanced, and everyone in between.
Ashtanga Yoga Phoenix is owned by Cindy Hrnicek and assisted by amazing Phoenix Ashtanga instructors as well as other family and friends.
